Ok, so I am not a fan of group exercise.... it's not normally my thing. When I signed up for the deal on Amazon I wanted to try something new and had certain fitness goals in mind. At the evaluation I realized PBC was not a fad workout... it's a lifestyle. Lauren is so dedicated to her clients and helping them achieve their goals. Lauren and Gaby both remembered what I had told them from my evaluation and still continue to ask about events in my life and how I'm feeling each work out.
The work outs leave me feeling energized, but jello! I don't realize how challenging a work out is until the next day, because it's so darn fun while it's happening! I love working out with other power women and feel great being motivated by them as well.
Keep up what you're doing Lauren!!!! You're kicking butt (especially mine) and motivating me to be strong, not skinny.
(Oh, and yes PBC is helping me achieve my goals, but I've also reassessed them and now know what is achievable and healthy vs. Unhealthy and temporary.)
The concept is great - warm up and cool down with Pilates and in the middle do core and conditioning with weights. I love the challenge and the sense of accomplishment.
I bought the Amazon local deal and have taken my first few classes. I really enjoy the small group setting and the support of everyone else who is there. It is really amazing how everyone is rooting for each other and not being negative or looking down on someone who can't lift as much as they can. It pushes me to lift more.
I enjoy taking classes with both Lauren and Gabby. They have different styles but they are supportive and clearly rooting for you.
Yep, I'm addicted. Who knew that 3 months ago when I bought a deal for 10 classes that it would change my life?! Lauren (the owner and one of the trainers) and Gaby (the other trainer) are two of the most knowledgeable and supportive women I've ever worked with. The sense of community in class, with other women cheering you on, is unlike anything else I've ever experienced! Being a full member gives you access to life coaching, nutritional guidance and strength training you didn't even know you were capable of! I love it!
Started coming here 2x a week for semi private trainings and have gotten amazing results! Lauren and Gabby are amazing trainers with a lot of patience! Started a month ago and have lost 10 lbs and looking leaner. I see it in my abs and waist already.

HAPPY & STRONG is exactly how you will feel after a workout at PBC! I started at PBC with a summer deal and loved it so much that I became a member! Lauren and Gaby are amazing trainers that offer the best personalized support and encouragement! When I first started my goal was to get on the road to strength and fitness. The work outs and diet help have proven that PBC was the right place to start. I have seen my waistline decrease and see that I actually have muscles! I love tracking my progress and the best feeling is realizing it outside of PBC. When suddenly day to day tasks and movements become less straining and your body is showing you how strong you have become!
I've been wanting to do some weight training, so when I saw the Amazon local deal I decided I had nothing to lose. I've been working out with Lauren now for 6 month and I absolutely love it. The workouts are not easy.... Lauren challenges every time to reach a new goal. I walk out of there exhausted but feeling great and I can feel how I am getting stronger. And I love the personal attention. I can be sure that she is watching that I do all the exercises correctly and will adjust the workout to tailor to your needs. A couple of weeks ago, I had a problem with my neck and couldn't turn without a lot of pain. I decided though to go to class and see if Lauren can help with some exercise. She was awesome, completely changing my workout having me to specifically address my issue. You get a lot of personalized attention during and after classes. Needless to say, I am very happy I found Pilates Barbell!
I have been coming to PBC for 5 weeks! I am totally in love with the classes! Lauren and Gaby do an amazing job and I get killer workouts that keep me motivated! The food advice has been great too! Overall this is the best decision I have made in the fitness arena! Quick results, my clothes fit better and I feel 100% more energy and overall just better!
I found Pilates Barbell Club (PBC) via a living social deal earlier this year. I had no idea what to expect other than the traditional "Pilates" workout. I signed up for my first session, actually 2 (back to back) sessions. The first one was the HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training followed by Pilates mat class. I walked away feeling great, energized and super motivated and wanting more. After I used up the 5 sessions, I was convinced, trusted and loved the dedication Lauren has provided to me, so I signed up with 1 year commitment.
Never in my wildest dream I would or could say I am addicted to working out, let alone at 5:30AM 3 times a week. I have never ever picked up a barbell in my life till now. After 3 months of working out with Lauren & Gaby, through various personalized workout plans, I am proud to say I am able to do a 105 lbs dead lift, squat and bench press at 70 lbs. I am only 4'10" and never thought I could built upper body strength, staying fit and most of all having all these energies to keep me going throughout the day, I loooooove it. We often hear people say "I workout to look good". Well to all my Barbelles, "I workout to feel good and to eat all the food I want!" 🙂
If you are looking to restart or start working out. I highly recommend PBC as Lauren is able to create a workout plan for you that fits your body, height and weight. Most importantly, there are a tons of classes that you will be able to fit with your schedule. as for me i found my perfect time to workout....early in the morning 🙂
It's a great semi-private personal training session... that keeps you motivated and wanting to come back for more. It's not like a "boot camp" where they KILL YOU for you to think that you are getting results.
How about something different that actually is fun to do. Sign up with a couple of friends and have fun with it.
The program goes like this:
You usually start with a couple of barbell lifts. No, this does not make you bulky. It helps tone and shape your muscles.
Then you go into conditioning. This is the fun part for me b/c you do all different kinds of conditioning that's fun: Bungy run, tire flips, spaghetti ropes, kettlebells, wheel rows, sleds, etc. etc. This is where it's fun b/c you don't even know that you are working out b/c it feels like a big obstacle course.
Then you end with some mat Pilates.
You should try it! You'll like it and want to stick with it. It will feel like the workout you've been looking for all your life.
After going to Pilates Barbell Club multiple times a week for the last 8 months, I can still confidently say I absolutely love it. During my discovery session, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we would be doing a significant amount of weight lifting, because I had heard so many positive things about weight lifting being great for weight loss and toning!
After just about a month of PBC, I noticed a huge difference in my body. I had lost a few pounds, significantly toned up, and felt much stronger. I had tried so many things in the past to lose weight and tone up, and nothing had worked until PBC. A few months after that, I had lost 10 lbs, REALLY toned, and gained a great deal of strength. I couldn't be happier with the results.
I still go to PBC about three times a week and Lauren is AMAZING!!! She's extremely attentive, respectful, and fun. She pushes you, as all trainers should, but also allows you to push yourself in order to grow personally. I have recommended PBC to all my friends, and would recommend it to women everywhere.
PBC (Pilates Barbell Club) has changed my life. I signed up in January for a 21-Day Fat Loss program with her where I was guaranteed to lose 10 lbs. in 3 weeks. I met that goal and have continued training with her.
I've now lost over 25 lbs. (in 4 months) and am more fit than I was 20+ years ago when I played sports in college. I can bench press 80+ lbs., do 110 lb squats, and have lost several inches around my waist. I'm down 2 sizes.
Lauren and Gabby are excellent! They are both so upbeat and friendly. I couldn't be happier with my experience at PBC. I look forward to each workout!
I gave Pilates Barbell Club a try earlier this year through an Amazon Local deal I purchased. I was only able to utilize the deal for about 2 weeks due to my busy schedule but I thoroughly enjoyed those 2 weeks.
Lauren is great and I especially loved how every class felt like a personal training session - she only allows 4 clients during a session. Another great thing is that Lauren had us keep log books. I think this is a great idea since it allows clients to see how much they're progressing. Lauren looks at the log books at the beginning of every session and pushes you towards a higher goal each time.
I found PBC through an Amazon Local Deal. Don't be fooled by the Pilates in the name. It is 80-90% all about weight-lifting and conditioning, which is AWESOME. At first I was actually a little bummed because I like Pilates, so two waist-line focused moves wasn't satisfying until Lauren explained her experience from Pilates-only to now a lifting champ! After hearing the benefits of lifting, Pilates is a mere cool-down/minor toning tool now that I still of course enjoy. Pure Pilates may give you a little bit of toning, but it doesn't give you STRENGTH, which believe it or not is what us women need! I've worked out for a long time: took Pilates, BodyPump at 24 Hour Fitness, personal training, etc. I also do a ton of cardio on the side, but PBC is truly a hidden gem revolutionizing the way I work out. What everyone is saying is true: I get such a high from doing just two barbell lifts in one session and the mixed bag conditioning circuit.
Lauren does an incredible job of personalizing the session for each person, while allowing us to bond with up to 3 other women pushing themselves towards their own goals. I like this soooo much better than personal training which is horribly expensive and often intimidating to go back to. Lauren has everything you want in a trainer: drill-sergeant strictness on form and technique (oh forreals, she is a stickler and will not budge. She catches every imperfection!), but she is also very bubbly and encouraging. I never feel bad when I am there because she makes me believe I can do it right. She won't give up on anyone!
Lastly, I just have to say I love the logbooks we each have. It is so easy to maintain each session, and the progress you track is amazing. Pretty soon, I will be benching as much as my guy friends, without the bulk 🙂 I've been here for just over a month and am definitely wanting to continue.
I've been going to Pliates Barbell since March 2012 2-3x a week and the results have been impressive. I've gotten stronger, leaner and become a morning person. Lauren is a great trainer as she knows when to push you and when to remind you to listen to your body. She's tough and kind making working out a personal, customized journey. I have only to been to two classes, but I LOVE this place. I have tried and failed at many different kinds of work outs and gyms. This time, there is not even a consideration as to my success. I know Lauren will guide me through and I am always looking forward to my next class as opposed to coming up with excuses as to why I can't go. I will check back after a few more weeks , but there is no doubt that this is the workout that leads to success!

I have been working out with Lauren for almost a year now. I started off slow only one time a week and then kick it into high gear last July. What a difference it has made!
I have toned up and slimmed down. I never saw myself lifting barbells, who knew it could be so fun! I have become so much stronger and therefore most of my back pain has gone away.
My posture has improved AND I am so much more flexible especially in my low back! The workouts are not just lifting weights we do a lot of fun conditioning exercises as well. Lauren is a ball of fire in a small package. If you're ready to get fit, toned and feel beautiful and sexy, Lauren's PBC 5X7 is a must. I've worked with personal trainers, lifting wights in the past and was very successful at loosing weight and gaining strength, but Lauren and the PBC 5x7 program are totally different!
Lauren makes sure you form is right, that you're using the right muscles and getting the sexiest body you've ever had. If the gym you go to isn't using PBC 5X7, first request it, if they don't start a PBC 5X7 program, make a trip to one of Lauren's Discovery sessions!
